The Activity Friends Programme
If you are over fifty and are interested in physical activity then our Activity Friends Programme may be for you.
The benefits of regular exercise
You are never too old to feel the benefits of regular exercise, however gentle. Being active is important in helping people remain healthy and agile both mentally and physically and can help in maintaining independence.Regular activity can help with balance & coordination, flexibility & strength, improve posture & breathing & promote good mental health.
Volunteer to become an Activity Friend
If you are over fifty, enjoy being physically active and take regular exercise, then you may like to volunteer to support and encourage someone else to become more active. The benefits of having an Activity Friend
You may have been advised to take up some exercise by your GP or you may just want to get more active but feel unsure where to start or embarrassed about joining in something on your own.An Activity Friend Volunteer may help by:
- Accompanying you on walks to improve your fitness.
- Going swimming with you and helping you to gain confidence in the water.
- Discussing other exercise & activities you may be interested in and helping you to access them.
